Ecology and conservation of southern Iberian forests

The Strait of Gibraltar region, between southernmost Iberian Peninsula and northernmost Africa, is a fascinating hotspot from an ecological and biogeographical point of view. Since my PhD, I became very interested in investigating its biogeographic history (including the history of accumulation of many relict plants across millions of years), the ecological dynamics of their fascinating forests (particularly in a climate change context), as well as trying to contribute towards better management and conservation.
